The Teller master luthier workshop was founded by Oscar Teller in Schönbach in 1931 and came to Bubenreuth via Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 1955. There, the third generation of the master workshop still exists today. The Tellers are known above all for their exclusively hand-built, high-quality classical guitars and are still one of the most renowned brands of German classical guitar making. Our guitar was built in June 1978 by Horst Teller, Oscar Teller's son, the notations on the soundhole label prove it. It is a full 4/4 guitar with a 62 scale length, with a slightly smaller body.
The top is made of fine grained spruce, sides and back of medium brown stained maple. Three-piece maple neck glued lengthwise with rosewood fingerboard. Beautiful soundhole rosette, rosewood bridge, open concert tuners with plastic axles.
Unknown. We took over the guitar in 2022 from a private middleman. It was certainly played a lot, the beautiful sound and some patina prove this.
All we had to do was clean the instrument thoroughly, polish the frets, oil the fingerboard and clean the tuners. Add a new set of Pyramid nylon strings and a setup, and that's it.
There are a few minor, but completely harmless playing marks on the top and sides, and the tuner axles are a little yellowed. Otherwise, the guitar is in top condition considering its 45 years. Tuners, woods, glue joints, frets - all original and flawless. Great sound, played in for years. Wonderfully soft and gentle sound, yet assertive and responsive. The tuners work perfectly. A wonderful guitar for beginners who want a fantastic sound from the start or a travel guitar for advanced guitarists.
