The range of classic Framus guitars extends from simple student instruments to the hand-built Bräuer masterpieces. Our Granada is a fully-fledged concert guitar and ranks directly below the Bräuer instruments. The model was only built for a very short time and was probably abandoned because of the similarities to the Boccaccio. Accordingly, only very few may have been sold. The label bears the date stamp 64B, so it is from February 1964. The model number is misspelled, it should of course be 5/27, not 0/27, there was no such thing at Framus.
The top is made of solid Alpine spruce, the sides of solid maple. The back is three-ply maple laminate and beautifully flamed. Up to six-ply bindings around the body. Beautiful soundhole rosette with genuine pearloid inlays. Three pieces solid maple neck with rosewood fingerboard and - unusual for a classical - truss rod. Rosewood tailpiece with decorative stripes, open, engraved tuners with pearloid butterfly pegs.
Unknown. The guitar was probably never played, it was in a collection for at least the last 30 years.
We cleaned and polished the guitar, blew out the body, polished the frets and oiled the fingerboard. A new set of strings was mounted and a basic setup was made.
The condition of the Granada is really unique. This is how it was in the shop at the time, no lacquer cracks, no scratches, no damage, nothing faded, fingerboard and frets untouched - this is a 57 year old new piece. It looks very classy with the elaborate rosette. It plays very pleasantly with a very good string action for concert guitars, the sound is loud, warm and woody. A rare collector's item and also a wonderful player guitar - something unusual for the classical guitarist.
