Product information Hoyer 33, bass guitar from 1977

Timeless, huge and massive bass guitar, more or less following the Fender Telecaster design role model. Punched 20977, i.e. September 20th, 1977, like this one of the very final instruments, produced under Walter A. Hoyer. Just before the company was honded over from one owner to the next for several times. Solid body in typical Fender butterscotch blonde design, completed by many chrome parts. Hard to sell back then and due to that a demanded and rare top of the line bird today.

Alder or ash body, neck of indestructible multi layer maple with a maple fingerboard. Huge open single tuners.

One huge single coil pickup, controlled by a master volume and a tone poti – it doesn’t need more for fat and versatile bass sounds.

Instruments history:

Restoration works:
Take it for granted: This bass guitar has been owned by a heavy smoker for a long time. He smelled disgustingly and has been very sticky of nicotine. Strings were totally worn off.We had to clean him completely and extensively, then polished all surfaces. We slightly sanded and polished the frets. Special polishing of the chrome parts. Checked and measured the electric system. Finally mounted new strings and did a setup.

Actual condition:
If you need a classy rock bass with very little authentic patina, this is the one. The Hoyer convinces with massive sounds, far away from being dull, but surprisingly versatile. You won’t believe, he’s more than fourty years old, because he’s near mint besides some small bumps and scratches at the body. Particularly his original condition makes him something special. No pimping, no botching, everything is as it was four decades earlier. Even the so called ashtrays are at their place. Neck is straingt, fretboard and frets as new. What else can you expect? The broad fingerboard matches even chubby fingers. Obviously the bass is perfectly clean and scentless again. A collectors item or eye candy on stage, hardly to find in this condition.

Overall length 43,7”/111 cm, body length 19,7”/50 cm, lower bout width 12,6”/32 cm, waist width 8,5”/21,5 cm, upper bout width 10,6”/27 cm; body depth 1,6”/4,2 cm, scale length 30”/76 cm (nut to saddle), fingerboard width 1,8”/4,5 cm at nut, 2,2”/5,5 cm at 12th fret; overall weight 4.300 g, string action on 12th fret 0,08”/2 mm (adjustable).
