Impressively beautiful bass guitar in perhaps the most beautiful Framus shape, completely independent development. Stamped 65 B, just barely recognizable, so from February 1965. Thinline with hollow body, arched top and back. Only in this period equipped with large headstock. Medium 30" scale.
Laminated maple body, massive spruce top, super-stable and indestructible laminated maple neck with three central mahogany stripes. Rosewood fingerboard with dotted perloid inlays. Open, large Framus single machine heads with metal fingerings, gold plated hardware.
Two of the legendary Framus P90 single-coil pickups, individually switchable on and off, each with separate tone controls and a master volume control. It's easy to use, and that's all it takes for rich and versatile bass sounds. In addition, there is the so-called Framus organ effect, switchable on and off with a 180° volume control with spring return. The adjustable bridge has a mechanical damper for beautiful, dry background sounds.
Unknown. It must have been played a lot in the past, so that a complete restoration was inevitable.
Clearly more has happened here than usual. The bass was completely disassembled, all parts were individually processed. The neck and body were completely repainted, the body and headstock black, the back of the neck clear, all high-gloss. The fretboard was straightened and oiled, the frets were renewed. The bridge with damper has been gold-plated - maybe the only one worldwide, because Framus never offered a golden original one! Also the tuners as well as the screw plate for the neck mounting and the bridge cover were newly gold-plated! A circuit board rebuilt from old cream white perloid replaced the broken original and also the rusted truss rod cover was replaced by a new, matching Framus brass cover. All other parts were carefully polished and otherwise remained original. The pickups were refurbished, a magnet was replaced, the electrics were rebuilt and several soldering points were renewed. Finally new strings and a basic adjustment - finished was a beautiful, like new instrument.
If you are looking for a classic rock bass with a super noble black and gold look, this is the right choice. The condition is practically as good as new. The Star Bass impresses with powerful sounds from soft to crisp, not a bit dull, and surprisingly versatile. We mounted flatwounds for rather soft jazz sounds, with roundwounds it is even more crisp. You can't even tell his age anymore. The neck is straight as a pole, fretboard and frets are flawless, string spacing is low - what more could you want? At the same time it is a comfortable lightweight and wonderfully balanced, so it's easy to play on the strap. A real collector's item and also a valuable investment with potential.
Overall length 45.7”/116 cm, body length 18.5”/47 cm, lower bout width 15”/38 cm, waist width 9.4”/24 cm, upper bout width 12.2”/31 cm; body depth 2.2”/5,5 cm, scale length 29.9”/76 cm (zero fret to saddle), fingerboard width 1.4”/3,6 cm at nut, 1.7”/4,4 cm at 12th fret; overall weight 2.300 g, string action on 12th fret 0.08”/2 mm (adjustable).
