Restoration of your instrument
Of course, we are also happy to restore instruments on behalf of our customers. Do you have an old heirloom that has been lying in the attic for 50 years? Your first guitar that needs a complete overhaul after decades of playing? A tinkered project that you never finished? You've come to the right place, because we work professionally, patiently and thoroughly to the last detail.
We do not carry out over-restorations that rob the instrument of its soul. The old and mostly beautiful patina will be preserved and conserved as far as it makes sense. The aim is always to achieve the original condition of the instrument at the time of first delivery. Everything must function as it was intended at the factory. We refrain from making optimizations in modern style and fashion.
Fingerboards should be straight; the frets should be high enough and free of grooves; the string action should be as low as modern; the varnish surfaces should be closed, sealed and polished; the electrics should work perfectly and without malfunctions; everything must be stable and fully resilient. In the end, even the smallest tuner screw will shine like new again.
If individual parts, e.g. of the hardware, need to be replaced, completed or exchanged, we only use contemporary and matching original parts from our parts stock. Or we source them with the help of our worldwide network.
Prices for basic refurbishments start at around 200 €, with no upper limits, of course. The time frame starts at about two weeks and should not exceed three months.
Just send us a few pictures of your restoration object by e-mail to info@german-vintage-guitar.com. Add some information about the problems and we will be happy to give you an estimate of the effort, costs and time frame.
